Batter’s Remorse

Posted in Assignment 1 on August 29, 2008 by eadenet

This photograph was taken as I was watching my brother play one of his final baseball games as a college athlete. I was able to catch his regret and anger after he watched the pitch come in. Through his facial expression and his grip on the bat you can almost feel his frustration. Whether you have been an athlete or not, you are able to put yourself in his cleats and feel his pain. He had swung at two other pitches that looked just like this one and he just watched it. The look on his face says it all: “I knew it, I should have swung?” A batter never wants to strike out looking, and even though he didn’t watch all three, he watched the one that mattered; the last one.
